INTRODUCTION
Have you ever felt the urge to be alone while in a midst of people? And it’s not mood swing but the happenings in the surroundings - a deliberate withdrawal from the noise, seeking solace in the quiet recesses of your own mind. It could be a need to be lonely but for the sake of your mental health
This act is an urge that many of us experience at some point in our lives, a longing to escape the chaos and find solace in the quiet. But there’s more to solitude than just seeking temporary refuge. It’s about filtering out the external noise and renewing our minds, a practice with profound implications for our mental health.
In the hustle and bustle of our modern lives, amidst the constant chatter of social media and the demands of work and relationships, cruise has been the other of the day to ease the economic hurdles. (But don’t forget HE overcame the world for us. Relax and continue to work in his will.
Few days ago, I posted something about this on my social media handle. ( Just Facebook and Instagram only though). Here’s a snippet of what I pasted.
So, I decided to further the discussion here, So let’s ride. Let’s see what I added to it as we learn.
The Urge for Solitude
The desire for solitude is not an indication of weakness or social ineptitude (it means incompetence); rather, it's a testament to our understanding of self-care. Just as our bodies require rest to recuperate, our minds too need moments of respite from the constant barrage of stimuli. In solitude, we find the space to breathe, to reflect, and to recharge. Jesus himself sought solitude in prayer, withdrawing to lonely places to commune with his Father (Luke 5:16). In these moments of solitude, he found strength and clarity to face the challenges ahead. Even in our day to day activity we still need GOD! Not only when we are in trouble.
Filtering for Renewal
In the age of information overload, where every thought and opinion clamors for our attention, the need to filter becomes imperative. We must sift through the noise, discerning what is beneficial from what is merely distracting or detrimental to our well-being (of course, not excluding your spiritual wellness). Filtering our thoughts and experiences allows us to renew our minds, shedding old burdens and making room for new growth.
Even in the midst of people. Listening to everything you might commit abortion sef (Killing the spirit man in you). You might still be young or a teenager but know that you are a guardian angel of your heart. Guard it with all diligence we were told. Be like a child who answers his Father with all of his heart.
Finding Balance
However, it’s essential to distinguish between solitude and loneliness. While loneliness is characterized by a sense of isolation and emptiness, solitude is a deliberate choice to be alone, a conscious effort to nurture our inner selves. It’s about finding balance between engaging with the world and retreating into our own space, recognizing that both are necessary for our overall well-being. Don’t loose how to relate with people because you are trying to balance this. Like your birthdate I’m also reminding you that God also uses Man and Woman to speak to us. Don’t snooze on that.
Practical Steps
So how can we incorporate solitude into our busy lives? It starts by making intentional choices to prioritize our mental health and the spirit within us. Whether it’s taking a solitary walk in nature (Prayer walking), practicing mindfulness meditation, or simply spending time in quiet reflection, find what works best for you. Create space in your schedule for moments of solitude, and allow yourself the freedom to disconnect from the noise of the world.
Know friends who are on a mission to abort that spirit in you. Thou shall not kill, I hope you know. Let’s just enjoy life and to do that we need to constantly be in the presence of the Father.
Conclusion
So, if you ever felt the urge to be alone, (know that we gather dey) embrace it without guilt or hesitation. Seek solitude not as an escape from the world, but as a means of nurturing your mental health and renewing your spirit.
By embracing solitude and renewing our minds, we can cultivate greater resilience, clarity, and inner peace in the midst of life’s challenges. Take the time to filter out the noise, to quiet the mind, and to listen to the still, small voice within. For in solitude, we find not only peace but also the clarity and strength to navigate life's journey with purpose and resilience.
