Ayanfe mi,
I wake up to the incessant ringing of my phones
Stretched lazily at the awakening of my tired bones
I listened to the steady chatter of the wedding crew
It's the wedding Eve - Whew!
Invitations have been printed and sent out
Caterers have been paid to mesmerize out palates
And now - chunks of meat and fish are now cooking and sizzling
Pots of "edibles" are boiling and bubbling
Assorted drinks are refrigerated and chilling
All these accompanied by the women's singing
In this recent time, I have been badgered
With different colors I never knew existed
Moi-moi yellow, yogurt white, and pepper red
Are the latest additions to my color palette
Different opinions and color choice till
It was finally settled.
Aso Ebi has been distributed to all
Known and unknown
Eloping like lovers in the Shakespearean play
Comes to mind
But the radiant joy on my mother's face
And the proud glint in my father's gaze
Quelches the thought
MINE, I look forward to the adjoining
As I take the walk down the aisle
I play out our wedding day in my head,
and the best part for me
Is going home with you as your wife.
O Happy Day!

Awwwwwww... So sweet 🤗 The moi-moi yellow part, though 😂😂
